From the beginning, the concept was clear – to re-imagine the classic leather school satchel/briefcase for everyday use both around town and going into the office. 

This new bag needed to be sleek and minimalist yet ultra-functional. 

It takes the best of time-tested materials and combines them with modern ones – all the while maintaining a cohesive look. It pays homage to traditional leather bag design without being constrained by it.

We've settled on a fusion of vegetable tanned leather and heavyweight felt mixed with one of the most cutting-edge fabrics in the world.  It is fitted with magnetic closures, premium safety buckles, and custom hardware developed specifically for this bag. 

The bag has been designed to be worn either as a traditional satchel/briefcase (horizontal) or angled like a messenger bag.   The unique strap attachment system allows the bag to pivot in relation to the strap – thus accommodating varied carry preferences.

Every aspect of this bag has been carefully considered.

-  Front flap pocket with organizer panel.

-  Fidlock Magnetic front closures.

-  Removable high density industrial felt laptop sleeve with leather zip pocket for a 13" laptop. (14" Macbook pro's will also fit)

-  Messenger-style Asymmetrical Felt padded shoulder strap which is removable and reversible for left or right shoulder carry.  It is attached to the bag with custom aluminum hardware and has an Austrialpin Cobra buckle for quick disconnect and adjustment.

-  Bag lined with Dimension Polyvalent UVX40 x-pac for strength, structure and durability.

-  Leather grab handle.

-  All hardware is replaceable.

I'm in the process of developing a new small shoulder bag called "La Musette" and as always the case, I am producing multiple versions and variations along the way. Usually its while I wait on specific fabrics, hardware, labels and just generally figuring out the best way to produce the bag. These prototypes are an excellent way to get this great Wilboro bag at a lower price point. I'm using a prototype daily and loving it! These are brand new, never used.

When developing these bags we put our first prototypes in the hands of some hard working Moms to give real-world feedback on daily use. That feedback led to a number of design revisions and some additional features that we feel confident have made the Wellington the perfect daily Tote.

The Totes feature two external pockets on one side, which are great for wallets, phones and water bottles.

The opposite side has one large pocket with a snap closure, perfect for magazines, books and many other items.

Internally the tote has one pocket with a robust brass YKK zipper to house your most secure valuables, keys and the like.

The top of tote can be snapped closed in three positions or left open depending on the fullness of your bag. This is accomplished through the use of a Leather closure tab with heavy-duty brass snaps.

The tote also features a double bottom and rounded lower corners for a long-wearing life.

Premium Leather handles are affixed to the fabric with matching leather anchor points, with Solid brass hardware.

A new brass D-ring has been hung with leather from one side of the tote to hook your keys onto.

We are also offering a Monogram service where we can add up to 3 Letters/Numbers. The monogram will be set on the outside leather crest panel (opposite side to the Wilboro logo.)  See photos for examples.

Monogram cost adds $15 per item and will take us an extra few days to prepare the bag for shipping.
